Alex Hayes
I am a BACP registered counsellor with several years of experience working in in counselling centres and addiction treatment settings around the world. Working from a person-centred, humanistic standpoint, I believe in helping people to understand themselves and how the interplay of different parts within them create patterns of behaviour. I believe in creating a non-judgemental, listening space for clients to explore these parts in helping them to work to change the ones that aren't working.
I work clients seeking help with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and a wide variety of neurodiversity as well as working with a variety of different addictive and problematic behaviours, including substance and alcohol misuse, gambling addiction and eating disorders.
Using a humanistic approach, I draw on a range of counselling methods including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy in order to help my clients in a way that I myself was helped by others.
I know how tough the first steps into change can be, and how tough returning to a journey of healing can be as well. I have first-hand experience in my own journey in recovery of how hard it is to make a change alone, and how much help some small guidance can provide. I cannot make anyone change, but I hope to provide some light on the path they might choose to walk.
